Culture by Neurodesign: DEI is dead—isn't it?
Rumor has it that many leaders are growing skeptical of traditional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. They question DEI’s real impact on business outcomes and worry about potential backlash or wasted investments. In this podcast theme, I dive into this critical conversation, challenging the status quo of DEI programs and exploring how organizations should reframe their approach to be inclusive of everyone.
Rather than viewing DEI as a checkbox for representation, I advocate for commitment that includes everyone, inclusing those who may currently feel sidelined by DEI. This approach, focused on cognitive inclusion, creates a culture where diverse perspectives and contributions drive measurable business outcomes.
By considering DEI as a leadership-led priority rather than leaving everything to Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), we can design an environment where everyone, including successful leaders, feels they have a place and a valuable role to play. Ultimately, this approach benefits both individual well-being and organizational success.
